A scientific paper has been developed within the scope of INFOS's R&D project CONNECT@FASHION. The writing of the paper was led by the CCG1 researchers Rui Ribeiro and Andre Pillastri, in which an Intelligent Decision Support System (IDSS) is proposed that combines forecasting and optimisation for production planning. This paper is based on the set of developments carried out by CCG for INFOS with the aim of assisting decision-makers in the planning and selection of subcontractors in the outsourcing of operations in the ITV production process.

The system uses an Automated Machine Learning (AutoML) approach to: firstly, address four predictive tasks that are crucial for estimating production planning indicators and then, using historical data and those same indicators, to study and suggest the best subcontractor allocation plan, using an Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimization (EMO) algorithm (NSGA-II), so as to minimise production time, risk and cost.
