BOPIS Buy Online Pickup In-Store

The Anglo-Saxon synonym for click-and-collect — buy online, pick up in store.

Full definition

BOPIS (Buy Online Pickup In-Store) is the Anglo-Saxon term for click-and-collect — buying online with collection in a physical store. It is frequently used in international retail technical and strategic documentation; in Portugal, click-and-collect is more common in commercial vocabulary. The technical requirements are identical: real-time shared stock, automatic reservation, customer notification, an in-store preparation workflow.

BOPIS (or click-and-collect) proved during and after the pandemic to be one of the omnichannel models with the highest adoption and satisfaction rates. Studies by consultancies such as Deloitte and McKinsey indicate adoption above 30% of online traffic in chains that implemented the model well. The critical factor: consistency of experience — if the customer arrives at the store and the order is not ready, or the stock did not actually exist, trust collapses quickly.

MAXIRETAIL + MULTI deliver BOPIS without specific development, with a configurable SLA (e.g. order ready in 2 hours, available for collection within 24h) and a workflow that forces a status update at each transition (order received → in preparation → ready → collected).
