Business Continuity

The discipline of ensuring an organisation keeps operating during and after disruptive incidents.

Full definition

Business Continuity is the discipline that ensures an organisation keeps operating — or recovers quickly — during and after disruptive incidents (cyberattacks, infrastructure failures, natural disasters, loss of key people). It integrates response plans, technical redundancies, communication procedures, and regular validation through exercises.

The Business Continuity Plan (BCP) documents: critical processes and their RTO/RPO (Recovery Time/Point Objective), dependencies (systems, suppliers, people), activation procedures, alternative communication channels, the decision chain in a crisis. The Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) is its technical component, focused on restoring systems. Both are only worth something if tested — annual exercises that simulate real scenarios expose gaps that documentary reviews do not see.

INFOS delivers Business Continuity as a combination of technical architecture (immutable backups, replication of critical systems, redundant infrastructure) and process work with the customer (identification of critical processes, definition of realistic RTO/RPO, drafting of procedures, running of exercises). For customers with NIS2/DORA applicable, Business Continuity is a regulatory obligation, not an option.
